Few cities in America feature inclines, and none are as historic as the Monongahela or Duquesne Incline, both of which overlook one of the world's great cityscapes.

The inclines operate approximately every 15 minutes.

Monongahela Incline

Often called the Mon Incline for short, the Monongahela Incline is the oldest continuously operating funicular railway in the U.S.

Opened on May 28, 1870, it transports more than a half a million riders each year.

Introducing Roundtrip Fares

Port Authority now offers roundtrip tickets designed specifically for Monongahela Incline riders.

Riders have the option of purchasing a 3-hour roundtrip ticket, or a 1-day ticket if you would like to have some more time to enjoy the city and return later in the service day.

Incline tickets are not valid for bus or light rail travel. See the chart below for more details.
