Fifth and Atwood Station

Project Overview:

  • Port Authority's contractor will be constructing a new bus station along Fifth Avenue at Atwood Street in Oakland.
  • Construction will begin in mid-August and expected to take about six months.
  • The new station will include benches, leaning rails, an overhead shelter, two ConnectCard machines, additional room for wheelchairs, and lighting to help identify the shelter at night.

Rider information:

  • The existing stop will be fenced off during construction.
  • There will be a temporary pedestrian walkway directly in front of the construction fence. The walkway will be protected with barriers and fencing.
  • The inbound bus stop at Fifth and Atwood will be moved to Fifth and DeSoto Street during construction (please see the map below).
  • The contractor will typically be working 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
