The Emsworth Bridge serves the areas of Emsworth, Ben Avon, Ben Avon Heights, and Avalon. For the past several years, the existing bridge has had a posted weight limit of five tons. Fire trucks, ambulances, and buses are not authorized to use it. Once construction is completed, the weight restrictions will be removed and the bridge will be reopened in both directions.
• Weather permitting, the contractors plan to bring in equipment and set up the work site, Monday, February 13. Demolition and construction will begin immediately after.
• The Emsworth Bridge will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic for one year (both directions).
• The contractor will be working Monday through Thursday, from 7am–6pm. Fridays will be used for make-up days as needed.
• There may be occasions when specialized work requires the contractor to work after hours and/or on weekends. We will provide advance notice in those situations.

Good afternoon. We wanted to provide you with an update on the Emsworth Bridge Construction Project. Construction is going very well and the project remains on time and on budget.
Beginning Monday, May 1, the contractor will begin working one hour earlier, at 6:00 am. We want to assure you that the contractor has talked with borough officials and residents who live close to the construction site. Everyone has approved of the earlier start time. The contractor will continue to work Monday through Thursday. Fridays will be used for make-up days as needed.
To date, the contractor has removed 800 linear feet of concrete decking in order to access the steel structure below.
The contractor is currently repairing the steel structure on the Emsworth side of the bridge. Once that work is complete, the contractor will begin making repairs on the Avalon side of the bridge.

Motorists using Camp Horne Road in Emsworth should expect intermittent delays lasting 5 to 10 minutes between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Wednesday, February 15, near the Emsworth Bridge.
Port Authority is preparing the bridge for a yearlong rehabilitation project, and a contractor will be placing concrete barriers along Camp Horne Road on Wednesday, which may cause traffic delays during the times noted above. The contractor will have personnel directing traffic.
The Emsworth Bridge connects the boroughs of Emsworth, Ben Avon and Avalon. The existing bridge has a posted weight limit of five tons, which has been in place for several years. The bridge will be closed for approximately one year during construction and the weight restriction will be removed once the bridge reopens.
We want to maintain communication with you during this project and have set up several methods to keep you informed.
