The Pittsburgh Chapter of the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO) is currently accepting scholarship applications from local high school seniors and students attending college or technical school who have an interest in entering the transportation field or related disciplines. COMTO-Pittsburgh will once again award six scholarships of at least $1,000 to deserving students. Students need not be a member of a minority group to apply.
Applicants must show an interest in continuing their education in transportation or a field that can support the transportation-related profession such as, but not limited to: maintenance; engineering and construction; business; law; public administration; planning and urban studies; and environmental science.
Students interested in applying for the COMTO-Pittsburgh scholarships should contact Port Authority’s Employment Department at 412-566-5346 for a scholarship application. Applicants will be evaluated on the strength of the application, ability to communicate effectively and financial need. There are also scholarships available through the national office of COMTO.
