Port Authority introduces its new community outreach and feedback program

On June 1, Port Authority introduced a new program that encourages the public to do plenty of talking while helping to steer future public transit decisions.

Known as Community Connections, Port Authority’s community outreach and feedback program will serve as a communications forum between the public and Port Authority. By request, Port Authority staff will attend town hall, business roundtable or community organization meetings to work with, listen to and gain feedback from local residents, business leaders and elected officials. Feedback will be implemented into strategies and initiatives geared towards creating a brighter future for public transportation in the region.

Topics of the Community Connections meetings can range from funding, service planning and capital projects to details regarding bus maintenance, operations, customer service functions or a topic of your own design. Presentations, materials and discussions will be customized to your group’s needs.

“I am pleased to offer the Community Connections program,” said Port Authority CEO Steve Bland. “This program will facilitate opportunities for continuous feedback and open dialogue to further understand community concerns and needs while helping us to deliver quality transit service to the region.”

The general public, elected officials and business or community organization leaders can schedule meetings by calling 412-566-5284 or logging onto www.portauthority.org and selecting the Community Connections link on the home page.
