Port Authority Participates in Memorial Day Service

This interior card was placed on all Port Authority buses to promote the National Memorial Day Observance.

Port Authority and its three unions all partnered with the Federal Transit Administration and the American Public Transportation Association to observe the National Moment of Remembrance on Memorial Day, Monday, May 28, 2007.

In partnership with Local 85 of the Amalgamated Transit Union, Local 29 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and the Port Authority Transit Police Association, Port Authority placed interior cards reading “One Nation. One Moment to Reflect” on its buses to promote the event. The National Moment of Remembrance asked all Americans to pause from their holiday activities at 3 p.m. local time on Memorial Day to honor those who died serving our country.

The Commission on the National Moment of Remembrance was created to foster awareness and understanding of the sacrifices and costs in human life made to preserve our liberties, and to instill in this and future generations an understanding of what it means to be an American.
