A view inside the first of two new subway tunnels

Stanwix Street: Between Penn Avenue and Fort Duquesne Boulevard:
This block of Stanwix Street is now open to inbound and outbound traffic.

Why?
The tunnel boring machine is now boring the second tunnel. Concrete decking was placed over the receiving pit to facilitate the flow of traffic.

Stanwix Street: Between Liberty and Penn Avenues:
Is closed to traffic both inbound and outbound and will remain closed until 2011.

Why?
The construction of a new Gateway T station has begun. Crews are in the process of transferring utility lines and installing vertical steel beams which will help ready the area for excavation.

Intersection of Stanwix Street and Liberty Avenue:
Beginning in December 2008, the intersection will be closed around the clock and continue through summer 2009.

Why?
Construction of the new Gateway T station.

Reedsdale Street: Lane closures between Sproat Way and Tony Dorsett Drive:
Periodic single lane restrictions will continue until December. Reedsdale Street will be fully open to traffic on Steelers and University of Pittsburgh football game days.

Why?
Work related to the construction of the elevated structure and the Allegheny Station.
