| | Martin Luther King Jr. East Busway Celebrates 25 Years of Service On February 21, 1983 thousands of bus commuters celebrated the grand opening of Port Authority’s 6.8-mile Martin Luther King Jr. East Busway. The four-day celebration featured an inauguration on February 18, 1983, followed by a free ride weekend on February 19 and 20. see more!
| | Contractors for the North Shore Connector project begin the Bore to the Shore The tunnel boring for Port Authority’s North Shore Connector Project commenced several weeks ago as crews from both Obayashi Corporation and the West Mifflin-based Trumbull Corporation started up the 500-ton tunnel boring machine (TBM). see more!

| | COMTO-Pittsburgh Accepting Scholarship Applications from Area High School and College Students The Pittsburgh Chapter of the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO) is currently accepting scholarship applications from local high school seniors and students attending college or technical school who have an interest in entering the transportation field or related disciplines. COMTO-Pittsburgh will once again award six scholarships of at least $1,000 to deserving students. Students need not be members of a minority group to apply. see more!
