Pittsburgh, PA – As part of the Transit Development Plan (TDP) public-input gathering process, Port Authority is taking the “Tell Us Where To Go” bus out on the road this week. The bus will be at the intersection of Murray and Forbes avenues in Squirrel Hill on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. and the McKeesport Transportation Center, located on Lysle Boulevard in McKeesport on Thursday, September 4, 2008 between 2 and 6 p.m.

The public is invited to board the bus to review information about the TDP, ask questions and provide feedback to project staff on their public transit needs and what the study has discovered so far.

The Transit Development Plan is intended to revitalize Port Authority’s bus service – to help the service better match current demand, to make it simpler, faster, more direct and to implement innovative services and practices.

The TDP study team is undertaking a comprehensive initiative to reach out to as many people in as many areas of Allegheny County as possible. Through meetings with community groups and the “Tell Us Where To Go” bus, Port Authority will crisscross the county, presenting the Transit Development Plan and listening to ideas from riders and non-riders alike on making Port Authority’s existing service more efficient and effective.

“This is a unique opportunity for the public to come out and tell us about their transit needs and how we can best fulfill them,” Assistant General Manager of Service Planning and Development Peter Behrman said. “We have been taking our show on the road this summer and will do so over the next few weeks.”
