Portion of Beechview Line to Close This Weekend Between Potomac and South Hills Junction

Pittsburgh, PA – Beginning early Saturday, August 9 and ending early Monday, August 11, 2008, Port Authority will close a portion of the 42S South Hills Village line in Beechview to allow crews to replace overhead contact wire and other electrical equipment.

Passengers that use regularly scheduled 42S South Hills Village trains at locations other than stops and stations between Overbrook Junction and Palm Garden may continue to use the service between South Hills Village and Downtown Pittsburgh. Regular 42S service will be detoured by the Overbrook Line.

Passengers traveling between Overbrook Junction and Potomac Station can transfer to, board, or depart special 42C Castle Shannon shuttle cars operating between the same points at different times. Transfers can occur between detoured South Hills Village cars at Overbrook Junction and shuttle buses at Potomac Station.

Passengers traveling between Potomac Station and South Hills Junction can transfer to, board or depart special 42S South Hills Village shuttle buses operating as close to scheduled times as possible. Transfers can occur between rail shuttle cars at Potomac Station and detoured South Hills Village cars at South Hills Junction.

Shuttle buses will serve all stops and stations along Beechview line except Westfield, Pennant and Traymore stops. Passengers using these stops can board shuttle buses at Cape May and Hampshire avenues. 47L Library via Overbrook cars will be unaffected by this work.
