Extra Rail Service Provided July 4

Pittsburgh, PA - Port Authority will provide extra rail service on Friday, July 4, 2008 to accommodate the large crowds expected to view the City of Pittsburgh’s annual fireworks display and attend the Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta.

Port Authority will operate two-car trains on the 47S South Hills Village via Overbrook T service beginning at approximately 2 p.m. Customers should look for the special July 4 rail timetable available at all major schedule rack locations, on vehicles and at Port Authority’s Downtown Service Center located at 534 Smithfield Street.

Port Authority’s 2,200-space South Hills Village Parking Garage is open for parking pass holders, while all others can park there for just $2.

Port Authority will also operate shuttle bus service between the lower and upper stations of the Monongahela Incline beginning at 7 p.m. and continuing through 11:30 p.m. on July 4.

The fare for this service, which compliments Port Authority’s Monongahela Incline service by offering another connection between Carson Street and Grandview Avenue on Mt.Washington, will be $2 each way. All pre-paid fare instruments will be accepted.

All Port Authority bus routes will operate holiday service on July 4. The DowntownServiceCenter will be closed. Port Authority Customer service will be open between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on July 4.
