Pittsburgh, PA - Port Authority will close the Mount Washington Transit Tunnel beginning at 5 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m.Saturday, May 3, 2008 to allow for work at the north entrance of the facility.
Bus routes scheduled to be affected include 41B Bower Hill Road, 41D Brookline, 41E Mount Washington and 46G Elizabeth. Light rail routes affected include 42S SouthHillsVillage via Beechview and 47L Library via Overbrook.
Inbound and outbound 41B Bower Hill Road, 41D Brookline and 46G Elizabeth routes will operate from South Busway to Warrington Avenue, to New Arlington Avenue and resume regular routing on East Carson Street. These routes, along with the outbound 41E Mount Washington, will operate from SmithfieldStreetBridge to West Carson Street, to Wabash Tunnel, to Woodruff Street, to Saw Mill Run Boulevard, to Warrington Avenue and resume regular routing on South Busway.
Inbound 41E Mount Washington will operate from Warrington Avenue to the PalmGarden ramp on the South Busway, to Haberman ramp, to Warrington Avenue, to New Arlington Avenue and resume regular routing on East Carson Street.
The Station Square bus stop will be a discontinued during this detour. Customers may use the stop located along East Carson Street at SmithfieldBridge during this time.
Inbound light rail routes 42S SouthHillsVillage via Beechview and 47L Library via Overbrook will not be affected. Outbound 42S and 47L cars will utilize the Allentown Line for the duration of the tunnel closure. Outbound passengers traveling to Station Square should continue on outbound cars to South Hills Junction and transfer to any inbound 42S or 47L car. The Station Square outbound platform will be closed during the tunnel closure. Passengers traveling outbound may board their train at Station Square inbound platform.
