Pittsburgh, PA – The much-anticipated tunnel boring machine hole-through at the Stanwix Street receiving pit would not have occurred Thursday, July 10, 2008 if it was not for a local company.
Bearing Service Company of Pennsylvania, located in suburban Pittsburgh, supplied a pillow block bearing for the slurry plant conveyor belt last week, allowing crews to resume mining in a timely fashion. The 500-ton machine holed-through in the receiving pit at 7:47 p.m.
