Pittsburgh, PA – The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has honored Port Authority with its Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the Authority’s Fiscal Year 2008 Operating and Capital Budgets.
Award recipients pioneer efforts to improve the quality of budgeting and provide an excellent example for other governments throughout North America by making their budgets proficient as policy documents, financial plans, operations guides and communications devices.
This marks the 14th time Port Authority’s Financial Planning & Budgets Department has won the award.
“The award represents a significant achievement,” the GFOA said in a press release. “It reflects the commitment of (Port Authority) and staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting.”
“We are very pleased and proud that Port Authority’s financial professionals have once again been recognized by their peers for producing and implementing a very challenging budget, said Port Authority Chief Executive Officer Stephen Bland. “Given the complexity of our operating and capital budgets, financed by a myriad of county, state and federal funding streams, this is a noteworthy accomplishment.”
The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving 17,500 government finance professionals throughout North America. Its Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards program is the only national awards program in governmental budgeting.
