Port Authority will offer more transportation options to and from Oakland beginning Tuesday, September 5, 2006 with the debut of the 13U North Hills-Oakland Express route and enhanced service on two existing routes.

The 13U North Hills-Oakland Express route will operate five peak inbound and outbound trips every weekday between the 250-space Showcase Cinema North Park and Ride Lot in McCandless Township and Forbes and Morewood avenues in Oakland. The new route, which operates along McKnight Road, will depart the park and ride lot approximately every 30 minutes between 6:01 a.m. and 8:06 a.m. Return trips will leave Oakland approximately every 35 minutes between 3:35 p.m. and 5:50 p.m.

In addition, Port Authority is adding service on the 59U South Side Works-Oakland-Waterfront-Century III Mall and 28K Moon Express routes.

Current 59U service does not begin operating between Oakland and South Side Works until 5:44 p.m., but as of September 5 those trips will be available to customers beginning at 9:25 a.m. Morning and early afternoon service between Atwood Street in Oakland and Sidney Street at South 28th Street on the South Side will be provided approximately every 40 minutes.

Port Authority will also double to four the number of peak directional trips available between its 600-space University Boulevard Park and Ride Lot in Moon and Oakland. Those trips will leave the park and ride approximately every 30 minutes between 5:54 a.m. and 7:21 a.m., with afternoon return trips leaving the stop on Fifth Avenue at North Craig Street approximately every 30 minutes between 3:34 p.m. and 5:06 p.m.
