Port Authority's System Safety Department has scheduled a series of drills with each of the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire's four platoons this month to simulate a fire in the downtown subway. The drills will begin at approximately 1:30 a.m., after the conclusion of revenue service, on December 6, 7, 13 and 14.

Members of the media who hear a disproportionate amount of scanner activity or see an unusual fire and police presence near the Wood Street Subway Station on those mornings are reminded that those responses are part of the drill.
