Board Rescinds 10 Percent Service Reduction

Pittsburgh, PA – As it pledged to do when approving a Fiscal Year 2008 budget last month, the Port Authority Board of Directors today rescinded a scheduled 10 percent service reduction in response to last week’s passage of House Bill 1590, which created new funding streams for transit agencies across Pennsylvania.

Pittsburgh, PA – The Port Authority Board of Directors today approved a two-month contract extension with the University of Pittsburgh that allows faculty, staff and students to ride Port Authority vehicles upon displaying a valid University ID card.

Transit Tunnel, South Hills Junction to Reopen to All Buses

Pittsburgh, PA – All Port Authority buses operating over the South Busway, detoured since March by the reconstruction of the Palm Garden Bridge, will return to the Mt. Washington Transit Tunnel and serve the inbound and outbound stops at South Hills Junction beginning Monday, July 30, 2007.

Port Authority Announces Connect '09 Initiative

Pittsburgh, PA – Port Authority today announced the start of Connect ’09, an ambitious 18-month initiative to connect neighborhoods through new service models and connect the region by enhancing coordination of transit services and adopting a regional fare collection system based on smart card technology.
