Port Authority Chief Executive Officer Steve Bland today recognized the efforts of five Port Authority Transit Police officers who saved the lives of two individuals earlier this month.

A four-month Port Authority construction project to repair deteriorated areas of the Martin Luther King, Jr. East Busway will begin on Monday, July 31, 2006.

The Pittsburgh chapter of the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO Pittsburgh) can officially call itself a nationally award-winning organization, as it received the Best Grass Roots Activities Award at the organization’s national convention in Austin, Texas earlier this month.

James R. Burn, Jr., a member of the Port Authority Board of Directors since February 2004, resigned his position with the Authority early last week.

Port Authority will detour several buses due to street closures and vehicular restrictions associated with the 2006 Major League Baseball All-Star Game and Fan Fest.
