It’s a weekday morning along Grandview Avenue, and Port Authority operator Joey Dadum greets passengers as they board his 41E Mt. Washington bus destined for Downtown. Some make small talk with the 17-year veteran, who will work the 26B Fairywood route later in the day.

Port Authority will operate regular weekday service on Monday, February 20, 2006, Presidents’ Day.

Michael Galido and Irvin W. Taylor, who retired from Port Authority in the late 1960s, were born two days apart in 1906 and began working for Pittsburgh Railways Company, one of Port Authority’s predecessors, 10 days apart in 1924. So it’s only fitting that Port Authority will help them celebrate their 100th birthdays this weekend.

While Port Authority continues to enhance the content of its Web site, www.portauthority.org, its recent efforts to facilitate navigation for those with visual disabilities underscores a commitment to ensuring the most efficient performance of the site for all customers.

City of Pittsburgh street closures scheduled to take effect upon the completion of the Super Bowl late Sunday night, February 5, 2006, will cause detours for all Port Authority bus routes.

Allegheny County and the City of Pittsburgh will hold a Super Bowl XL Victory Rally on Thursday, February 2, 2006, closing a portion of Forbes Avenue and causing detours for 14 Port Authority bus routes.
