Approved Route & Fare Changes

The Port Authority of Allegheny County's Board of Directors on Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, approved the Transit Development Plan, related service guidelines and fare changes.

Details are listed below and you may read the news release announcing the approval by clicking here. It's important to note that there have been some changes to the original proposals in response to comment from riders, the public and employees.

One key change is the reduction of the Zone 2 fare from $3 to $2.75. The current fare is $2.60. This change was made in response to numerous comments from Zone 2 riders during the recent public comment period.

Also, we have modified 27 routes from the initial proposals due to comments received. These changes would begin to be phased in starting in March 2010.

This is the result of two years of planning and considering thousands of comments from the public.

The first elements of the plan are expected to be implemented in March 2010, with more changes to come over the next two years. The fare changes would be enacted Jan. 1.
