Rack 'n Roll

In case you didn't know, you're good to go on Port Authority's bike-friendly vehicles. You can place your two-wheeled, non-motorized bike aboard 12 Port Authority bus routes, the light rail transit system (the T) and on the Monongahela Incline -- for no additional fare charge.

Foldable Bikes Allowed on Port Authority Vehicles

As part of a sustainable living initiative, Port Authority permits cyclists to bring their foldable bicycles onboard Port Authority buses, light-rail cars and the Monongahela Incline during peak and non-peak hours.

Folding bike users riding buses with bike racks are required to use the racks to secure their bicycles.

Port Authority and local cycling advocates, Bike Pittsburgh, are encouraging people to combine modes of transportation in an effort to reduce the dependence on automobiles, which will help decrease traffic congestion, decrease carbon emissions, relieve the parking crunch and allow for easier use of bicycles all over Pittsburgh.

Buses

The following Rack 'n Roll bus routes provide convenient access to many popular destinations including local parks, recreational trails and universities. Two bikes are permitted per bus, and the bike rack will accommodate all bicycle types with a wheel size of 16 inches or larger, with the exception of tandems and recumbents.

The racks on these 12 routes are available for use seven days a week.
